Drudge Report, Informed Citizens Guilty Pleasure is Hit Again

For the second time in less than six months, visitors to the Drudge Report say they got malware in addition to the Web site’s usual sensational headlines. According to news.cnet.com, Full story here

Matt Drudge denied that his site was infecting visitors; however it’s likely that the malware is coming from ads delivered by a third-party ad network and not the site itself.

Going back to February of this year when TechNews World reported the Kneber botnet, which has hit about 75,000 PCs in roughly 2,500 companies worldwide which is reported to have hit very specific targets like governments and large corporations. It targeted the Social Security numbers and login credentials. Granted this is different than the malware issue on the Drudge Report but the point is that attacks to social media sites, .gov’s and big corps have grown in recent months.

Just keep your eyes open and do not open anything fishy…
